Annual Winestate Magazine’s “2020 Wine Of The Year” And “Best Of The Best” Edition
Iron Gate Estate has collected yet another accolade to round off what has been a whirlwind year. Our family-owned boutique winery situated in the Pokolbin area of the Hunter
Valley has had its 2019 Iron Gate Estate Hunter Valley Verdelho awarded a runner-up status in the “Alternative White Wine of the Year” category, in the latest edition of the prestigious Winestate magazine.
This wine has undergone a substantial round of tastings, firstly gaining a five- star rating and Top of Class in the “Best of NSW Wine” edition earlier in the year (see below).
Due to this rating, the wine was then eligible for the “Wine of the Year” taste-off. The wine was then judged again in its category and made the top five wines.
If we weren’t already abuzz about the first result, we are over the moon with the latest result…..
It is a re-affirmation of the quality of wines being released from Iron Gate Estate in what has been a turbulent time for the local wine industry…… and still at a great price.
The wines are only available from Iron Gate Estate’s Cellar Door. Of course, members of our wine club enjoy a substantial discount on purchase. We look forward to showing you our home-grown Verdelho when you visit.
Our flagship red blend, the 2018 Fénix, is also featured in the magazine after collecting a 5- star rating in the judging.
Plus….a Silver medal for the newly released 2019 Primera Reserve Shiraz in the 2020 NSW
Wine Awards Current vintage and Older Shiraz (after being bottled only two weeks before !!!!).
Plus….. 5 out of 6 wines submitted gaining medals at the 2020 Australia and New Zealand Boutique Wine Awards……
